Anekal - Hosur Road

Anekal is a small town in Bangalore. It is one of the important commercial hubs of the city. The area is home to several business activities. The area is well connected to other parts of the city via the road, rail, and bus transport systems. The locality is close to the Kempegowda International Airport and the railway station.

Anekal is located near the town of Hosur in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The name means “the abode of ascetics” in Kannada. The town was founded by Veeramani Nayak of Kariappa Nayaka in the 17th century. The place became very famous during the British Raj when it was known as Anekal Periya Palayam (“Anekal Town of the Workers”). The place was the site of many tea and coffee plantations and also rubber estates.

Anekal is also known as ‘Kadal Mandal’ (Village of the People). In ancient times, this place was a part of the Chola empire. The ancient name of the place was Karaikudi. Karaikudi is mentioned in the ancient Tamil poem Thiruvilayaalathurai written by Tirunelveli.
