Akkipete is a new town in Karnataka State, India. It is situated at the bank of Tunga River. The name of the town is a combination of two names: Akki and Peta. Akki is the name of a river and Peta is the name of a village. The main reason for choosing this place is that there are several industries in this area which helps the people to earn a good income. The state government has established various educational and research institutions. The total population of the city is around 4 lakhs. It is situated at an elevation of 652 meters above the sea level. There are three different types of climate in this area. The summer season starts from April to June and it lasts for 2 months.
